Year 7 Step Back in Time

17th May 2019

As part of our history topic ‘The Victorians’ we went to the Sentry Hill Visitor Centre. In order for us to get into the spirit of this experience and truly step back in time we dressed up in Victorian costumes. A huge thank you to everyone's efforts, we really did look the part! This was a terrific day and greatly enhanced the children’s knowledge and understanding of life during Victorian Times. The children had a guided tour of Sentry Hill farmhouse and garden. We also spent time in the education room using hands on activities to explore the history of Sentry Hill and the local area. We also had a very enjoyable picnic lunch and played in the magnificent gardens at Sentry Hill.

Pupil Comments

Madison - it was definitely interesting and I would recommend it to other pupils. It would be a good family day out over the holidays.

Leah - I learnt lots more about the Victorians. I enjoyed finding out about how the Victorians lived. I particularly liked all of the horse paintings in the house as I enjoy horse riding myself.

Evie - The trip was really fun, I learnt lots more about the Victorians. I really enjoyed going in period costume as we really felt we were part of that time. I dressed up as Sherlock Holmes and everyone looked great!

Logan - I thought it was very interesting learning about the different family links. I loved looking at the artefacts and thought the museum room was fantastic.

Carson - I had a great day! I found it interesting and I certainly appreciate how difficult it was for people back then. It has made me appreciate simple things, like electricity and running water.
