At Whitehouse Primary we support children's transition to secondary school in a number of ways including: the sharing of information between schools; visits to school by prospective teachers and past pupils children; distribution of leaflets; talks at the schools; taster days and other joint social events between schools. This term we continued this support and our school counsellor, Julie Magowan has been involved in delivering a series of workshops to help our pupils feel more at ease with the challenges they may face. Topics explored included worries and solutions, developing emotional tool kits and peer pressure. The sessions were good fun and allowed everyone the opportunity to express their feelings and understand that they are not alone. Mrs Richmond's class will start these sessions next week.
