N.S.P.C.C. - 'Speak Out' Assemblies and Year 6 Workshops

22nd Sep 2017

Today our pupils were given a fantastic presentation from the N.S.P.C.C. on how to stay safe and to speak out.  The children were taught about the various forms of abuse, their right to be safe and free from harmful behaviours from others and how they can 'Speak Out' to get help from trusted adults.  It was both very informative and enjoyable.

This was then reinforced by safety talks from our Designated Teacher and Deputy Designated Teachers for Safeguarding and Child Protection.  Pupils were reminded again of Whitehouse Primary's 'Helping Hand' of trusted adults and organisations for children to seek help from when in need.

The Year 6 pupils then were given follow up workshops to focus on issues of particular concern to older pupils such as e-Safety and sexual abuse.

This was a great day that reaffirmed much of our existing practices but reminded us all of the need to be vigilant and always seeking to empower our pupils with the skills to 'Speak Out'

The N.S.P.C.C. is one of our nominated charities in 2017/18.
